MY APPROACH

It is in the context of relationship that we begin to build an understanding of ourselves and the world. Whether these relationships have been helpful, harmful, or somewhere in between, they shape the way we think, feel and behave. Therefore, as counseling begins we will take time to be curious about how specific relational experiences have impacted you. We will explore your past and current stories. We will spend time identifying what is currently troubling you, possible origins of unhelpful coping strategies, and then together identify steps you can take to begin to find healing or freedom.

While relationship is at the core of our identities being formed, harmed and healed, we are also very much embodied beings. Therefore, we will also spend time being curious about how your body and physical well being may or may not be impacted by your mental well being.

It is a courageous step to begin the process of counseling, so I congratulate you on taking this valuable time for yourself. I look forward to meeting you, to hearing your stories, and to looking for greater insight into who you are and hope to be.

I completed my BA in Sociology at Western Washington University and my MA at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I’ve worked with children, families and individuals in a variety of social service contexts for nearly 10 years. It is an honor to do this work, and to bear witness to the incredible courage and vulnerably at work in this process of growth.
